Basic Photography
Our instructors have a way of simplifying everything! We teach basic to advanced photography, lighting, beginning Photoshop and Elements. $100 for the first hour, $50 an hour after that with a two hour minimum at the Understand Photography studio or in your home (local).

Photo Excursions

Understand Photography offers all types of photo excursions! Most excursions are for one to four photographers, however, we can accommodate large groups as well. If you are looking for something different and exciting to offer to your clients during convention breaks, offer them an afternoon photography excursion. With enough notice, we can even provide all the equipment including cameras.

Outdoor and Nature Photography
Our nature photographers will take you to the right places for the type of photography you hope for. We have expert bird photographers and landscape photographers ready to guide you and help you with your camera settings. Four hours, $425 for up to two people. $75 per extra person up to four people total.

Master Naturalist Nature Guide
We are now offering a guide to show you the best spots to photograph in Southwest Florida. If you want those breathtaking landscapes that you see from the famous Everglades photographers, our guide can take you there! She can point out and name beautiful plants and birds. Her tours include local history, lore, plant and wild life identification. Trips can be tailored to birds, alligators, scenic photography or a combination of all.

This tour is a guide, not a photography instruction tour.

Our guide is a Florida Master Naturalist in Coastal Wetlands and a trained wildland fire fighter in Big Cypress National Preserve. She is a volunteer with Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research reserve where she assists researchers with the fisheries and forestry divisions. Her passion for the Everglades fuels her desire to learn about the plants, wild life and ecology.

She has spent an extensive amount of time exploring the tucked in corners in search of the best photographic locations.
Guided tours begin at $179.00 for four hours, up to two people.

HDR, Night and Cityscapes
Four hours of intense learning. Are you more of an artist than a nature or people photographer? You’ll love spending time with this instructor. GL will give you basic lessons on night photography and High Dynamic Range. Then it’s off to the streets to photograph for two hours. GL will show you incredible photo opportunities and help you with your settings. Your final hour and 1/2 will be spent learning the processing techniques needed for stunning images. Fort Myers or Naples.

Fashion Photography
Come do a fashion shoot with a gorgeous model.
Our Fashion Photographer and Lighting expert will help you and let you use our lighting equipment – studio lights on location or in our studio using different modifiers.
This is not a formal class, but a hands-on learning experience. Bring your own camera and whatever equipment you have. You’ll leave with beautiful portfolio images and the opportunity to use some fabulous lighting equipment. Your final hour and 1/2 will be spent learning the processing techniques needed for stunning images. Fort Myers or Naples. We will provide the model or you can. The Business of Photography
Our fearless leader, Peggy Farren, is an award winning, fulltime professional portrait and wedding photographer. She began as a single mother, looking for a part-time job, and after hardship and struggle, finally found the key ingredients to being a fulltime and financially solvant professional photographer.

Peggy has watched many photographers go out of business or try to start up and never get past part-time. She offers both a “Business of Making Money in Portraiture” and “Wedding Photography 101″ workshops. Private mentoring with Peggy is available. Please inquire about pricing and available options. Peggy’s time is extremely limited, especially during our busy winter season.

One on One, 6 Week Creative Photographer Mentoring and Accountability program
with a PPA Master Photographer

$599 includes:
Critique and review of your images.
Guidance for Ideas and Photoshop techniques to put together creative images and composites.
Assignments and accountability for 6 weeks.

Are your images good enough for competition? What do the judges look for? How do I submit my first image for competition without being completely embarrassed?
Do you love the artistic side of photography but need help learning to be more creative?
Do you have great Photoshop skills but don’t know how to put together images or composites that WOW?

Two hour in person or Skype meeting where we will review your work, then help you set your goals for the next 6 weeks.
You’ll have a weekly assignment (which you and your mentor will decide on together)
Follow ups and accountability via Skype, Dropbox and telephone once a week for the following 5 weeks.
