St Croix Photography Workshop October 2-9, 2016

Peggy Farren 2016-05-08
Explore beautiful St Croix, US Virgin Islands while expanding your photography skills!
Peggy Farren has been going to St Croix for many years because of her association with Sid Kalmans, an avid photographer who just happens to own the fabulous Hotel Caravelle right in St Croix!

Peggy and Sid have teamed up again to put together a photo trip that will blow your mind!
Here are some of the photography activities planned:
  • Historic walking tour of the 16th century Danish town of Christiansted.
  • Photographing historic sugar mill ruins. Best settings for Landscape photography.
  • Model shoot at an eco lodge and ruins where we will learn about posing, on and off camera flash.
  • Photography fire dancers at night. How to light, night settings, fun with shutter speed.
  • Photograph a horse and rider on the beach. The keys to a good silhouette, on and off camera flash.
  • Whimm Plantation – Beautifully restored 18th century sugar plantation on 12 acres.
  • St George Village Botanical Garden - The botanical collections, including over 1500 native and exotic species and varieties, are established in and around the restored buildings and stabilized ruins of a 19th century Danish sugar cane plantation and partially overlap an Amerindian settlement which dates back almost 2,000 years.
  • Night sky photography at the eastern most point of the US - Point Udall (depending on conditions)
  • Learn about astrophotography. Make the sky a deep blue, stars “pop” and star trails.
  • Silky water at the beach. St Croix boasts the most beautiful beaches with palm trees.
  • One free day to do as you please. Because of Sid’s connections, you’ll get discounted rates on many activities.
  • And of course, we won't miss the beer drinking pigs!

This trip is for any level of photographer since it is limited to just five participants. That being said, we highly recommend you take our “Four Weeks to Proficiency in Photography” live and interactive online course if you are not comfortable shooting in the manual setting. You’ll get much more out of this trip if you have the basics down. Remember, We Simplify the Technical.
