Photoshop & Lightroom Problem with Windows 10

Since upgrading to Windows 10 has Photoshop or Lightroom suddenly been crashing or acting strangely while you are editing? The latest Adobe versions of these programs are able to use your computer’s graphics processor to speed editing. Unfortunately many graphics drivers are not fully compatible with the OpenGL 3.3 standard. This can cause Photoshop and Lightroom to suddenly lock up, turning the monitor screen white or black, during editing.

The fix for this problem is quick and easy. Simply turn off graphics processor acceleration. Go to PREFERENCES, which is found under the EDIT tab. When the preferences dialog window opens, choose PERFORMANCE. Uncheck USE GRAPHICS PROCESSOR, and then click on OK. In most cases this will solve the problem. If it does not you likely need to go to the computer or graphic processor maker’s website and update your graphics drivers. ~Joe Fitzpatrick is the leading Lightroom expert in Southwest Florida.
