Understand Photography
We offer private instruction and custom photo excursions.
Private Lessons $100 the first hour, $50 each hour after that, two hour minimum. With the right teacher, this is the best way to learn!
We’ll team you up with the appropriate instructor for your needs. We carefully screen our photography instructors for both teaching ability and photography skill. Basic photography to advanced, including software programs such as Elements, Lightroom and Photoshop. Study in our studio or at your home (southwest Florida).
We have instructors in Fort Myers and Naples.
Photo Excursions
Understand Photography offers all types of photo excursions! Most excursions are for one to four photographers, however, we can accommodate large groups as well. If you are looking for something different and exciting to offer to your clients during convention breaks, offer them an afternoon photography excursion. With enough notice, we can even provide all the equipment including cameras.
Outdoor and Nature Photography
Our nature photographers will take you to the right places for the type of photography you hope for. We have expert bird photographers and landscape photographers ready to guide you and help you with your camera settings. Four hours, $425 for up to two people. $75 per extra person up to four people total.
We have spent an extensive amount of time exploring the tucked in corners in search of the best photographic locations.
Guided tours begin at $425.00 for four hours for up to two people. $75 per extra person up to four people total.
HDR, Night and Cityscapes
Are you more of an artist or street photographer? We will give you basic lessons on night photography and High Dynamic Range. Then it’s off to the streets to photograph for two hours. We will show you incredible photo opportunities and help you with your settings. Your final hour and 1/2 will be spent learning the processing techniques needed for stunning images. Fort Myers or Naples.
Three hours and a half hours, $425 for up to two people. $75 per extra person up to four people total.
Fashion Photography
Come do a fashion shoot with a gorgeous model. Our Fashion Photographer and Lighting expert will help you and let you use his lighting equipment – studio lights on location and/or in the studio. This is not a formal class, but a hands-on experience. Bring your own camera and whatever equipment you have. You’ll leave with beautiful portfolio images and the opportunity to use our lighting equipment. Your final hour and 1/2 will be spent learning the processing techniques needed for stunning images. Fort Myers or Naples.

City Photo Tours – Old Naples or Fort Myers River District
Take a walking tour of Old Naples 3rd Street area or the Fort Myers River District with a professional photographer! You will learn to photograph some of Naples’ and Fort Myers’ most attractive landmarks and cultural scenes and see them through the creative eye of one of us! This is a great family excursion! We incorporated photography lessons right into our tours. Any type of camera is fine – point and shoot to professional. We’ll point out great compositions & help you choose the best camera setting. You will love taking great photos on this two hour adventure right in town!
You have two options: Morning or sunset/evening. Times change depending on the season. Reservations are required as we are offering special group rates: Price: $50 per person, minimum of three people.
