"Photomerge" within Photoshop and Photoshop Elements is just incredible. Last night, I witnessed this unbelievable cloud! I had my camera with me, but no tripod and there was no way I could capture the entire cloud with one picture.
This beautiful and frightening cloud was over Naples, Florida on September 21, 2012.
So..... I planted my feet, stayed in place and handheld took 7 pictures, making sure each overlapped.
When I got home, I opened all seven files in Photoshop.
Here are instructions to use Photomerge to stitch the pictures:
Photoshop: File - Batch- Photomerge - Add open Files - Elements: File - New- Photomerge Panorama - Add open Files -
The steps are the same from here: I chose Auto for the type of Pano I wanted and then I cropped out the extra empty part of the picture. To crop without dimensions, choose the crop tool, then click delete for the sizes. Elements will ask if you'd like the edges "auto filled", which you might want to try!
You can try all the different options for panoramas; auto, perspective, cylindrical and more.
Click OK and watch the magic!
Save your image and be impressed with yourself!!
